Summary

Factfulness:The stress-reducing habit of only carrying opinions for which you have strong supporting facts。

When asked simple questions about global trends - why the world's population is increasing; how many young women go to school; how many of us live in poverty - we systematically get the answers wrong。 So wrong that a chimpanzee choosing answers at random will consistently outguess journalists, Nobel laureates, and investment bankers。

In Factfulness, Professor of International Health and a man who can make data sing, Hans Rosling, together with his two long-time collaborators Anna and Ola, offers a radical new explanation of why this happens, and reveals the ten instincts that distort our perspective。

It turns out that the world, for all its imperfections, is in a much better state than we might think。 But when we worry about everything all the time instead of embracing a worldview based on facts, we can lose our ability to focus on the things that threaten us most。

Inspiring and revelatory, filled with lively anecdotes and moving stories, Factfulness is an urgent and essential book that will change the way you see the world。

Loved the book。 It presents a way more nuanced -and therefore comforting- view on the current state of our world and the incredible progress we've made in a short amount of time, all things considered。 Would recommend。 Loved the book。 It presents a way more nuanced -and therefore comforting- view on the current state of our world and the incredible progress we've made in a short amount of time, all things considered。 Would recommend。 。。。more

。。。more

I wish I could write something profound about this book。 About how important it is to read it, and that you should do it right now。 But that would sort of go against the message it's trying to send。 Don't get me wrong, you should read this book。 It's very interesting and uplifting, but do it when you have the time。 It's not going anywhere。 Also, it's one of those book that you can come back to over the years。 I know that I will。I wasn't familiar with Hans Rosling before I read this。 I knew that I wish I could write something profound about this book。 About how important it is to read it, and that you should do it right now。 But that would sort of go against the message it's trying to send。 Don't get me wrong, you should read this book。 It's very interesting and uplifting, but do it when you have the time。 It's not going anywhere。 Also, it's one of those book that you can come back to over the years。 I know that I will。I wasn't familiar with Hans Rosling before I read this。 I knew that he passed away a couple of years ago, but I didn't really know who he was。 This relatively short book has made me realize what a remarkable person he was。 The afterword moistened my eyes a bit, yes。 The world needs more people like Hans Rosling。Now, when it comes to giving a rating I feel conflicted。 I feel like I should give it five stars, but that might be a little too dramatic, wink wink。 I'll settle for four stars, maybe even four and a half。 。。。more

The book reads well and offers interesting insights on our perception of the world and how we can change it。 The work underlying this book should definitely be part of the education we receive at school。

I wish all my European friends could read this book to understand how biased they are when it comes to the facts about the rest of the world。

Better check your facts first, priceless。

A thought provoking and perpective shifting book。 Highly recommended for anyone who wants to think rationally about global issues。

Amazing book that everybody should read for a view of the world based in facts。

How is that possible that chimpanzee outperforms bunch of C-level executives in a simple test about global trends?
